I have the pleasure of working with children, teens and adults all with different personalities and each with different orthodontic challenges. I enjoy getting to know our patients and am thrilled that so many are second generation families that continue to choose our family for their orthodontic needs. Orthodontics keeps me on my toes as each patient is truly unique. I love to develop a plan, and watch a person’s bite change and develop into a healthy functional smile. There is nothing that makes me happier than to see my patients proudly displaying their new smiles after orthodontic appliances have been removed. It is amazing to see the instantaneous boost in self esteem and confidence in our patients. Priceless!

I enjoy personally doing the work on each and every patient from the moment they step foot in my office until the day their braces are removed. For each patient, I create a custom treatment plan, place the braces, change the wires, and remove the braces too! I believe, my “hands on” approach contributes to our shorter treatment times and higher quality results. As most of my patients will agree, I am a strong believer that not all smiles are created equally.

I am passionate about the fact that just as no two people are alike, no two treatment plans are exactly alike. There is no universal “right way” to treat every patient. Even patients with similar orthodontic problems may require dramatically different treatment plans . That is why I believe it is imperative to explore all the options for care and recommend the “best option” based on “your needs”. I am all for saving patients time and money whenever possible.
I am fueled by the immediate boost in self confidence and self esteem our patients gain after treatment. I am overwhelmed at the response our patients have when they see their new smile for the first time! It’s bitter sweet to see tears, joy, screams of excitement and sometimes a simple hug as they see their transformation.



I am a Rockhurst High School Graduate in 1985, attended Kansas University BA 1989; UMKC School of Dentistry DDS 1997; St. Louis University Center for Advanced Dental Education (Masters of Science in Orthodontics 1999).

Continuing education is imperative to allow our practice to remain current in the latest techniques to give our patients the most up to date, efficient, and comfortable treatment possible. By taking regular continuing education classes we continue to offer our patients the highest quality treatments available.

I am a proud member of the American Board of Orthodontics, the American Association of Orthodontics, the American Dental Association, the Kansas Dental Association, the First District Kansas Dental Association (Past President, Board Delegate), the Kansas Association of Orthodontics, the Southwestern Association of Orthodontics, the Tweed Study Club of the Midwest (Past President) and certified Invisalign provider

I initially worked in the business world after graduating from KU, I quickly discovered that something was missing in my work day. I wanted to make a difference by creating smiles that would forever positively impact others. Dentistry, and ultimately orthodontics was my passion. I returned to school to finish science prerequisites, completed four years of Dental School and three additional years of Orthodontic training. There is no profession better suited for me than orthodontics.

Our team is a caring group, dedicated to making you feel comfortable in our office. Our goal is for you to feel “at home” when you step through the door. We will always explain and show you each step before performing any procedure. We find that honesty , understanding and educating our patients, establishes a comfortable environment for all. Our team will always know your name and will provide you with a fun, relaxed atmosphere while we straighten your teeth. We will have a variety of contest throughout the year for prizes. We also have a Patient Reward program in which patients can earn points throughout their treatment for prizes as well. Theme weeks are always popular. We dress up and decorate the office based on the theme and encourage patients to participate as well.

I married my high school sweetheart , Paula in 1990. We have four wonderful children (Garrett, Courtney, Grant & Carson) that keep us very busy. We also have two dogs named Buster & Porter. I spend the majority of my weekends at sporting venues watching/coaching my children as they play every sport imaginable. I love to play golf, scuba dive, bike, watch James Bond, and travel with my family. I enjoy being active in my church and local community, and an avid KU Fan. Go Jayhawks!

Huerter Orthodontics has been involved in Johnson and Wyandotte counties since 1964. We have helped generations of families achieve their perfect smile while supporting these same families and others by giving back to the local communities through thousands of sponsorships and participation in many local events.


Smiles and relationships do change lives. My family and I have had the opportunity to build wonderful life long relationships through orthodontics. We have been fortunate to work with generations of families to provide customized and individualized orthodontic care. For that, I am very grateful and proud of providing the best functional beautiful smiles in Wyandotte and Johnson Counties since 1964.
